Our First Queen

I just found this portrait and thought it was really nice resemblance of our first Queen.

  1. It is very nice indeed. Always a good thing to see Louise remembered, as too often later queens like Elisabeth and Astrid eclipse her. But she was the first, and the one who set an example for the rest.

  2. I think she was very important. She gave the country the next king of course but also she probably gave alot of respect for Belgium around Europe for being a Bourbon princess. The Coburgs were from this little corner of Germany but everyone would know the Bourbons of France and Spain and Sicily and having her as Queen probably made more people accepting of the new Kingdom of Belgium.

  3. I don't recall seeing that portrait before myself. It may just be me, but I see alot of Carlota in that one. A lovely woman.

  4. I can maybe see that, in her face there is similarity. Charlotte though had the darker hair and eyes like King Leopold.
