He was a very great man. Perhaps a bit over-zealous about his duties, though, which probably contributed to his conflicts with politicians. He was very intense and idealistic, but perhaps Belgium is better suited to a more pragmatic type of ruler, more willing to make compromises in order to reach a consensus.
I think if he could have come in immediately to put things back on order as he wished the country would have been much better. I don't think we would be having the problems that we are in today if that happened.
Oh, definitely. But the Political Testament seems to have made him many enemies. Not that there was anything wrong with the points he made, but perhaps it would have been more prudent to keep quieter at that moment- he was in a terrible enough position already.
